2 temples in one day
It was time again for our quarterly trip to Bali to renew our Visa. We hired a driver for the day to take us around to some of the sites. This is the Tegallang Hindu temple in Bali. Famous because it is almost 1000 years old. The attractive skirt that I am wearing is a covering they give everyone who goes on to the temple grounds.
This was a traditional fabric coloring store. By hand a wax that is impregnated with colors is dotted onto a material. The wax is then washed away in a hot bath and the color remains.
This is a silver jewelry and silver Arts company. By hand intricate pieces of jewelry are made. We watched one being made that will take a week to complete.
Each of the neighborhoods are organized by different trades. All of the silver companies are in one neighborhood. Other neighborhoods have stone cutting companies and still others are wood cutting neighborhoods.
We went to a butterfly Park. This is actually a large moth.
It was a very transformative day.
This is one of the few waterfalls in the country. It's Headwaters are on the mountain that has the volcano in Bali
This is the Tirta Empul Temple. Here we happen to get a glimpse of their worship service
This is one of the ceremonial cleansing baths. Even non-hindus were allowed to use the baths.
This was nice.
The McDonald's has the same menu as in America. Big Macs are regularly $1.95 here.
We returned home on Saturday afternoon. Our Sunday church was challenging because the one member who teaches the non-members in Bahasa could not make it. For sacrament meeting we had one of the other non-members translate Cheryl's talk. We then showed a general conference talk in Bahasa. Sunday school was challenging. I had two classes one was English only and the other one was in Bahasa. I showed a film in each class that fortunately was translated into each of the languages.
Overall, it went pretty well. The non-members continue to come and feel the spirit. The one large non-member family had the husband attend this time. They are a total of 7. This next weekend our mission president will be attending and so he will be able to teach in their language. We decided to have a social get-together on Saturday night. All of the non members said they would attend and they are bringing the food, hors d'oeuvres
