Key hole garden building and ceremony
The garden is now completed with a picture of all the villagers who contributed. It is important that the entire Village contributes so that they gain the skills to build future Gardens on their own. It is hoped that when the sample Garden is successful that the others will build their own. Its construction is interesting. The first layer inside the garden is trash such as plastic bottles burlap, paper, and sticks. Then there are alternating layers of soil and compost. The middle section is Stones surrounded by a plastic mesh. This is where the water is poured into. Villagers are directed to use their old dishwater as it contains a nutrients.
After the ceremony tools were awarded to the Garden owner
About one-half of the buildings in the village were constructed of bamboo and Palm leaves
Afterwards there was a ceremonial meal. Cheryl and I only ate a little bit and thankfully 48 hours later we have not gotten sick
I don't understand why they don't cut the heads off
Cheryl passed out small airplane kits to the kids
We walked about 1/2 Mile out to the main road. Throughout the countryside Pigs seem to roam on their own. We waited for about 15 minutes and caught a small bus called a microlet. They travel on scheduled routes throughout the city and nearby Countryside. You wave them down and jump on. When you get to your stop you tap your coin on the handrail and the driver knows to pull over. For the longer rides in the countryside they cost $0.50 and the shorter routes in the city are $0.25. Cheryl and I were packed in with all of the natives.
